![]() Mexico - For those of you who have yet to meet the gentleman I am with, his name is Boyd Rollins, my love. In mid November, we went down to Mexico for a few days of glorious sunshine and relaxation.
Virginia's 2004 Christmas present to her Father Jack was a vacation in Maui. Here,
he certainly appears to
be enjoying himself at the 'Old Lahaina Traditional Hula & Feast'. This
particular Luau is the one most attended on the Island of Maui, as they put
on quite a show & the entire staff was alive with the Aloha spirit.
Is this the face of a happy
man! We had such a wonderful time. Virginia, her father Jack and her friend Gail Stewart at the 'Old Lahaina Luau'. For those of you who do not know Gail, she had been vacationing on the Big Island the week prior to our arrival in Maui, so I invited her to join us for a few days, before she returned to her home in Oregon...Needless to say, we had a marvelous time.
We took a helicopter tour of West Maui, North Shore & the Island of Molokai...A truly amazing adventure...Daddy had never been up in a helicopter before, so he had a ball!
This is Al, our pilot. The entire 1 hour plus trip is recorded on CD, with both audio and visual. As the job requires, Al is in possession of historic knowledge of the Islands...and...he has the most wonderfully, lyrical voice through which he conveys this information. He also has quite a sense of humor!
Daddy...in all his glory, enjoying his first helicopter ride. He managed to take some very good pictures, as well.
This is the North Shore
of Maui, on the way over to Molokai. I really got some incredible shots.
The tallest waterfall on the Island of Maui, this is over 2,000' high.
We are now leaving Maui
on our way to the Island of Molokai...which appears in the
distance.
This is Molokai...approaching
the Leper Colony. Once again, I have this trip recorded on CD with
audio...When you're here for your next visit, perhaps we'll play it for
you, on the laptop. (By special request only...I promise!) This is the peninsula where the Leper Colony exists. Prior to having discovered a cure for the disease, the lepers were tossed overboard, beyond the dangerous rocks along the coast line, and forced to swim to shore...or perish in their attempt. Today, out of respect for those who now inhabit the Colony, aircraft do not fly over the area. where
The helicopter cameras were also taking pictuers of the inside of the cockpit while we were inflight. This is a shot of 'yours truly' and the other couple who accompanied us during our little adventure.
On the return flight to
Maui, our pilot spotted three whales. In this picture, you can see
two of them...one had just gone under the water. The ocean was so calm,
you can also see a shadow of our helicopter off in the lower right corner. We flew in a French made, Black Beauty. For those of you who will visit Maui, if you have not as yet done so, I highly recommend you treat yourself to this experience...take the Sunshine Helicopter tour and...don't forget to ask to have Al as your pilot.
My sweet Boyd, thought
super imposing my face onto one of the hula dancers would be entertaining.
Although, he didn't quite finish the job, for as you can see, I lack
the proper tan.
My adorable father and
his new friend, at the Whaler's Village in Kaanapali. Gail, Virginia & Daddy enjoying lunch & Mai Tai's at the Embassy Resort in Old Lahai. The resort has one of the best Koi fish ponds we saw, or most certainly, the largest Koi.

This is the waterfall in
front of the Grand Wailea Hotel...one of those incredibly special places
on earth. Daddy, Gail and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch there. I was so
overwhelmed by the beauty of this resort, Boyd has promised
to take us there on vacation. It is such a romantic place.
The Grand Wailea Hotel...This
resort is 40 acres of absolute lush, tropical, classic, beauty. The
magnificent fountains, bronze sculptures, statues, lagoon swimming pools,
grotto restaurants and fabulous Spa...are the height of pure luxury. Our condo at The Sands of Kahana Resort was 1,750', 2 bedroom, 2 baths, with the most extrordinary view of the Island of Lanai. Many of my best pictures were taken from the balcony of our suite...This one was taken from the kitchen.
Our condo at The Sands
of Kahana. This sunset (once again, was taken from the balcony of our suite at The Sands of Kahana) is one of perhaps 100+ sunsets I took of from various locations in Maui. If you look very closely, you'll notice the crescent moon has risen high in the sky, before the sun has completly set behind the Island of Lanai. Simply beautiful!
One of my many favorite
sunset pictures, taken from our balcony.
iI love this picture of
Daddy & I. It was taken by VV Rosen, in her home on Maui. Dad
& I met VV on the plane ride to Maui...She's a great gal. VV &
her husband Norm, live in the High Desert 6 months of the year & 6 months
in their beautiful condo at The Sands of Kahana, in Maui. Sigh...!
Yet another glorious sunset,
taken from my balcony.
This is the beach in front
of The Sands of Kahana, where we stayed. Lanai , is the island you
see in the distance. This placque was on the wall in the foyer of our condo at The Sands of Kahana.
